Better Perspective Counseling
Better Perspective Counseling

Hello!

I’m Shannon, and I am deeply honored to be part of your journey toward healing and personal growth. With over six years of experience in the therapy field, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from all walks of life, helping them navigate the challenges that come with trauma, mental health, and personal transformation. My approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a commitment to helping each person realize their full potential.

A Personal Journey

While I bring professional expertise to the table, I also know what it’s like to face life’s toughest challenges. As a cancer survivor and a mother, I have experienced firsthand the power of resilience, hope, and the importance of mental and emotional well-being. These experiences have shaped the way I approach therapy and have helped me build a deep understanding of the courage it takes to heal and grow.

My Education & Professional Background

I graduated from Florida State University, where I gained a solid foundation in psychological principles. During my graduate studies, I worked with children on the autism spectrum, which not only gave me a wealth of knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) but also shaped my therapeutic approach, focusing on individualized, evidence-based techniques that promote long-term growth and development.

My Philosophy and Goals for You

In therapy, I believe in creating a space where you feel safe, heard, and truly understood. My approach is collaborative — we’ll work together to identify your goals and move toward them at a pace that honors your unique experience. Whether you’re navigating a major life transition, working through past trauma, or simply seeking support for emotional growth, I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

I take a person-centered approach, grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you uncover the answers that already live within you, through thoughtful questions and a supportive presence. I aim to make therapy feel natural and relatable, rather than overly clinical, while still honoring the power of evidence-based practices. I also draw from holistic interventions to support healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

I deeply value the client-therapist relationship and believe that a strong, authentic connection is key to meaningful progress. Life is complex, and I understand the delicate balance it takes to care for yourself while managing the many roles and responsibilities you carry.

Whether you’re seeking therapy for yourself or a loved one, my goal is to help you heal, grow, and thrive — by meeting you where you are and offering compassionate, personalized support every step of the way.
