Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our Therapy FAQ page! Below, you’ll find answers to common questions regarding the therapy services I offer. If you have any further inquiries, feel free to reach out!

  • Individual Therapy: $125 per session
  • Parent Training, Couples, and Family Sessions: $145 per session
  • Family Sessions as Part of Individual Treatment: These sessions are billed as individual sessions.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the pricing or session structure. I am happy to discuss payment options and payment plans if needed.

I currently do not accept insurance. Insurance providers typically credential fully licensed therapists, and as I am a registered intern working to fulfill my clinical hours toward full licensure, I do not yet meet these credentialing requirements. Additionally, insurance claims for therapy can sometimes impact the therapy process, as certain treatment approaches may be limited or dictated by the insurance provider.

If this is a concern, I am happy to discuss it further with you and explain the benefits of private pay therapy. My focus is on ensuring that we maintain a treatment plan that is in your best interest and fully personalized to your needs.

This is one I feel people are afraid to ask! Don’t be. If you just want to explore other providers, for any reason, it is no problem at all! Therapy is about finding a space where you feel supported, heard, and empowered to make progress. If you ever feel that I am not the right fit for you, it’s important that we address it. I will gladly assist you in finding another provider who may be a better match for your needs and goals. Your progress and comfort are my top priorities, and I want to ensure you are in the best environment to succeed.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. However, we can discuss and arrange for longer or shorter sessions based on your specific needs and goals. Flexibility in session length can be tailored to best suit your schedule or therapeutic focus.

I integrate several therapeutic approaches to best support your unique needs, some of which include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): We’ll work together to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and replace them with healthier, more constructive ones.
  • Behavioral Modification: Focusing on changing behaviors through reinforcement techniques and developing positive habits.
  • Client-Centered Therapy: You are the expert on your life, and I will provide an empathetic, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
  • Strengths-Based and Solution-Focused Approaches: We’ll build on your strengths and focus on finding practical solutions to challenges, empowering you to overcome obstacles and move forward with confidence.
  • Relational and Interpersonal Therapy: Where we discuss and address the impact of interpersonal issues and relationships, and address relationship problems to improve client functioning.

Therapy can be incredibly helpful if you’re facing emotional distress, feeling stuck in certain aspects of your life, or wanting to make meaningful changes. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or personal growth challenges, therapy can provide a safe space to explore your concerns and work toward your goals. If you're unsure, feel free to reach out for a consultation where we can discuss your needs further.

For your first session, it’s helpful to come with an idea of what you’d like to focus on. Whether it's a specific issue or general life challenges, I’ll guide you through the process. The intake process includes a form that allows you to go into as much or as little detail about your presenting concerns as you feel comfortable with. This helps provide a solid background and a good starting point for our work together. I encourage you to be open and honest, but there’s no pressure—take your time, and we can go at your pace.

Yes, all therapy sessions are confidential. I am legally and ethically bound to protect your privacy. There are some exceptions, such as when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in the case of abuse or neglect. I will explain confidentiality in more detail during our first session to ensure you feel safe and secure.

Typically, people start therapy with weekly or biweekly sessions. As treatment goals are met and progress is made, sessions may be spaced out accordingly. This frequency is unique to each individual, and sometimes, therapy can offer unexpected insights that may impact the frequency of sessions. Together, we will work to determine what’s best for you, and adjust the plan as we go along to meet your needs.

The duration of therapy can vary depending on your goals and needs. Some individuals benefit from short-term therapy, while others may engage in longer-term treatment. Together, we’ll regularly evaluate your progress and make adjustments to the treatment plan as needed to help you meet your goals.

Yes, it’s completely normal to feel nervous before starting therapy. Many people feel unsure or anxious about opening up to someone new. Over time, as you build trust with your therapist, these feelings typically fade. Therapy is a safe, non-judgmental space where you can work through your emotions at your own pace.

Once you request an appointment online, I will give you a call to go over a few things. We’ll discuss your presenting concerns, any questions you may have, and some intake information (name, email, phone number). We’ll also make sure that we’re a good match, as much as we can, and confirm the appointment time and day. I’ll also briefly go over the intake documents you’ll be sent via my EMR (electronic medical records) system, explaining how to access and sign them.

Absolutely! Therapy is for you, and your input is crucial in the process. While we’ll discuss potential goals together, the plan will always be tailored to meet your individual needs. I use client-centered approaches, and I firmly believe that you are the expert on yourself. You will have an active role in determining how we approach your goals and any strategies we use in therapy.

I require 24 hours' notice for all cancellations or the full session fee will be charged. This policy is in place to maintain a consistent standard of practice and is applicable to all clients. There are exceptions, such as emergencies, and I am flexible when possible. If you need to cancel, I also offer the option to reschedule within the same calendar week to avoid the cancellation fee; however, this depends on availability, which is not guaranteed. I strive to be flexible and understanding, so please feel free to reach out with any concerns, and I'd be happy to discuss this further. This policy is also reviewed during your initial consultation and session.

During the intake consultation, I will go over how to contact me in between sessions and discuss different forms of communication and associated confidentiality risks (I.e., email; secure portal messaging). Clients and prospective clients have access to my email address and work/office cell (not encrypted). This means mindfulness regarding privacy is important. Clients will have a SECURE portal they may use for messaging and updates, as well as the previously stated forms of contact.

While I would love to say hi, your privacy and confidentiality is the most important. Therefore, I will respect your privacy in any public setting. If you approach me, I am more that happy to be friendly, but will continue to respect your privacy and not disclose our relationship (even if you do)! This is to ethically protect your confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and your relationship with therapy.
I hope these answers have provided clarity! Therapy is a unique and personalized journey, and I am here to support you every step of the way. If you have additional questions or are ready to schedule an appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
